Breast Cancer Now

The role

This is a really exciting time to join our team at Breast Cancer Now. Having recently launched our new Turning the Tide strategy, we’re more focused and determined than ever to make an impact for people affected by breast cancer.

We’re looking for a Press & PR Manager (maternity cover) to join our ambitious Press, PR & Celebrity Team and play a key role in cementing our place as the ‘go to’ organisation for breast cancer. Focusing on our Services & Influencing charitable work, the right person for the role will build the charity’s profile, championing our bold, challenging, patient-focused and expert voice. This includes securing targeted coverage for our policy and campaigns work to influence decision makers, getting important health messages out to healthcare professionals and the public, and ensuring anyone affected by breast cancer knows that we are here for them the whole way through via our life-changing support services. You’ll create and collaborate on powerful stories and will have innovative ideas about how to get cut-through in the media so our stories get heard in a competitive environment.

About you

You’ll be great at building trusted, influential relationships with colleagues across the charity up to senior management and CEO level, and with journalists, external contacts across the services and influencing arena, and advocates and ambassadors of Breast Cancer Now. You’ll work collaboratively and at pace, without compromising on quality of work, to keep our services and influencing work front and centre of our press and PR activity.

An impactful writer for a range of audiences and across different channels. You’ll have a detailed understanding and passion for policy and campaigns, public health and support services work, along with a creative approach and instinctive sense for what makes a good ‘news’ story, and use your experience and expertise to put Breast Cancer Now at the heart of the external news agenda around breast cancer through both proactive and reactive work.

You’ll be excited to join our ambitious, focused and supportive wider Fundraising, Communications and Engagement Directorate which has a focus and drive to reach and engage more people than ever before in our work and to develop our fundraising to continue to be a sustainable organisation for the future. You will play a key role as a manager within this Directorate. We have an open and supportive learning and development culture and are all taking a hybrid approach to working with a mix of working from home and from the office.

About us

We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future.

We’re that trusted friend that people affected by breast cancer turn to for caring support when they need it most. The expert authority on breast cancer research who is making breakthroughs and driving forward progress. And a vehicle for change, acting now to make sure anyone affected by breast cancer gets the best possible treatment and care.

We believe that we can change the future of breast cancer and make sure that, by 2050, everyone diagnosed with the disease lives, and is supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Although the role is based in our London office, we are following a blended approach between office and home working with a minimum or two days per week in the office for full-time staff members. Should you have any queries with regards to this please email recruitment@breastcancernow.org  in the first instance

Breast Cancer Now is an inclusive employer committed to developing a diverse workforce.
